App Review: Swipepad

Recently I came across a very impressive app called 'SwipePad'. It allows you to choose 12 of your favorite apps, shortcuts, tasks, or contacts, and have access to them via a simple swipe of your finger. You can bring up SwipePad from within any other application, which is one of the reasons this app is so great. It's free in the Android Market, so go try it out!

When you first download the app and open it, you get to the general settings menu. There you can do things like turn SwipePad on/off and change the region to swipe to launch SwipePad.

This is what the app looks like when launched by swiping. You simply  move your finger over one of the assigned apps to launch it. If you hold your finger over one of the apps, the circle becomes orange and you can change the assigned app to something else of your choosing.

Optionally, there are 4 add-ons (each about $0.99) that you can download for SwipePad as well.

MoreSpace- This add-on lets you extend SwipePad beyond one pad with 12 slots. With this, you can have multiple pads (One for bookmarks, one for apps, one for contacts, etc.). If you have a device with a bigger screen such as a tablet, you also have to option to add more than 12 slots to your pads.

AppLauncher- This lets you launch your full list of apps from within SwipePad. It also keeps track of the apps you've launched from within AppLauncher, and places them in the mostly used section. Additionally, you can view app settings and manage your apps.

WidgetPad- Allows you to launch your favorite widgets from within SwipePad. You could view your power control widget to quickly change settings or view your Facebook stream, all without leaving the app you're running.

Tasking- Tasking allows you to view your 12 most recently used apps with just a swipe. Pressing and holding an option lets you view options such as force close/uninstall. you can go to the market page for the app or manage it in your settings

That about sums it up! SwipePad is a very useful app that I've enjoyed in the time that I've had it. Go ahead and try it out. It's free, and I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Get it here and enjoy!
